W1PO has been licensed since 1960 holding stateside calls WV2SXE, WA2SXE, WB9IAV, WA2WVB, & N2BD. Currently Dan holds the calls VK2CZS in Sydney, Australia, and ZL0AKY in Auckland, New Zealand. The shack in Merrimack consists of a Yaesu FT-890AT, Collins 32S3, 75S3C, 312B4, 516F2, and Ameritron AL 811H for HF operation 160-10 meters. Antennas are a Hy Gain TH5DXS at 45 feet, a Carolina 160 Windom at 90 feet and a Cushcraft AP8V vertical ground mounted with radials for 75, 40, and the WARC bands. On 6 meters the FT-101E, FV-101B, FTV- 650B transverter put out a solid 50 watts SSB & CW through an MFJ tuner into a Telrex 5 element yagi. The packet gear is an Icom IC2AT with an RF Concepts 2/70G amp through a PK 88 TNC, and twin MAC SE's for 25 watts to a Cushcraft 4 element yagi. The logs are computerized with the "Logger" software on an HP 233 MHZ Pentium 1 running Windows 98.
The shack in Pocologan, New Brunswick at our vacation home runs a Yaesu FT 890AT driving an Ameritron AL 811 for 300 watts out on 160-10 meters to a Carolina 160 Windom or Hy Gain 12AVT ground mounted vertical.
From the mobile, W1PO is using an Yaesu FT -100 with the Diamond SG7500 2/440 antenna, as well as a 6 meter whip and Outbacker Perth Plus for all bands 160-440 MHZ. Dan can typically be found on 147.045 WW1Y NARC repeater, or 443.350 KA1OKQ Pack Monadnock repeater. Both Dan W1PO and Mike N1XOX are members of the Nashua Area Radio Club which is an ARRL affiliate. |
